The Notte del Cortometraggio returns this year with two stops in Ticino, as part of the national festival now in its 22nd edition.

Four programs and the premiere of a short film from Italian-speaking Switzerland are on offer during the evenings scheduled for Friday, September 26, at the Lux art house in Massagno, starting at 8:15 PM, and Friday, October 10, at PalaCinema in Locarno.

Opening the event is Waterfall, a brand-new Ticino short film by Thomas Tattarletti, produced by Swiss e-Motion. Set in a 2030 version of Locarno, Waterfall tells the story of a troubled seventeen-year-old undergoing experimental therapy at a newly conceived behavioral rehabilitation center.

Following that, the four national programs will provide an overview of what is happening in Switzerland in the short film scene. It begins with Swiss Shorts, a showcase of the best recent Swiss productions, followed by five short films dedicated to female resistance (Come una ragazza), a reflection on the form of films made with AI (Intelligente e artificiale), and concluding with Rivelazioni in rosa e celeste, which explores gender stereotypes.

The Notte del Cortometraggio is organized by the Winterthur International Kurzfilmtage Festival. The event features a tour through 13 Swiss cities, in collaboration with Base-Court Lausanne. The Ticino stops are organized by JFC Cinema. The Massagno and Locarno screenings benefit from the support of: the Municipality of Massagno, the City of Lugano, Locarno Film Festival, Ticino Film Commission, and PalaCinema.

Reservations and ticket purchases are available online at jfccinema.ch.
