Filming begins for *Cercatori d’angeli*, the feature debut of Leopoldo Pescatore

The film is produced by the Italian company Settembre in co-production with Ticino-based Rough Cat. Filming will take place in Lugano at the end of September.

Filming has just begun in Bolzano for Cercatori d’angeli, the first feature film by Italian director Leopoldo Pescatore, already known as an assistant director who has also worked on several productions in Ticino (I segreti del mestiere, Atlas, 40 & Climbing, and the TV series Alter Ego…). Filming will conclude in Lugano at the end of September.

Cercatori d’angeli is produced by Bologna-based Settembre Produzioni, in co-production with Lugano’s Rough Cat and RSI Swiss Radio and Television, and is made with the support of the Republic and Canton of Ticino, the Ticino Film Commission, the IDM Film Commission South Tyrol Alto Adige Fund, and RAI Cinema.

The film stars the young, almost debuting Sophia Anna Losito as Bianca, a determined 17-year-old high school student from Lugano driven by strong ideals. During a summer spent in Bolzano with her uncle (played by Fausto Maria Sciarappa), she discovers how life’s greatest battles often begin with small actions, through encounters with people’s daily struggles and the solidarity between human beings.

The cast also includes Alessandro Haber, Rolando Ravello, Caterina Shulha, the Italian-Swiss actress of Ticino origin Giorgia Würth, and Ticino actors Igor Horvat and Anahi Traversi.

Local professionals are also well represented in the crew, including Edgar Iacolenna (location sound) and Assunta Ranieri (chief makeup artist) with their respective teams. The Swiss production will also provide a strong artistic contribution to the film through the composition of the original soundtrack.
