The Switzerland Film Commission (SFC) held its annual general assembly on June 5th, 2025, at Studio13 in Sion.
The meeting was characterised by strategic decisions and important developments aimed at strengthening Switzerland's position as a leading film destination.
The Switzerland Film Commission is pleased to welcome Fribourg Films as a new member, thus expanding the network of regions committed to promoting Switzerland to national and international productions. The SFC also presented its new roadmap for the period 2025-2028, with a clear objective: to strengthen Switzerland as a film location and make it a privileged destination for shooting. To this end, it promotes the diversity of the country's regions as film locations and, in the medium term, supports the introduction of incentives at the national level. The strategy will focus on four areas: raising awareness among public and private actors of the economic importance of the audiovisual sector, facilitating the filming process, supporting the development of new regional commissions, and, finally, actively promoting Switzerland as a filming location.
A strong international presence.
To maintain its international profile, the Switzerland Film Commission, in collaboration with Swiss Films, will be present at two important industry events: the Munich Filmfest in June and the MIA in Rome in October. These events will help to position Switzerland at the centre of professional exchanges and to showcase its film potential.
Clear priorities.
In addition to these concrete actions, the SFC intends to intensify efforts on two essential fronts: the medium-term development of strong national economic incentives ("cash rebate") and the development of a more incisive communication strategy to make its missions, its partners, and the beauty of the territory.
A new committee.
The Switzerland Film Commission has confirmed the co-presidency of Lisa Barzaghi (Ticino Film Commission) and Tristan Albrecht (Valais Film Commission), who, since the last board meeting, had held this role ad interim.
They will be joined by Dino Malacarne (Zurich Film Commission), Heinz Dill (President of the SFP and member of Film Location Riviera) and the new members Lili Kaelin (Lucerne & Central Switzerland Film Commission), Nicole Barras (Syndicat Suisse Film et Vidéo) and Timothy Ross (IG - Unabhängige Schweizer Produzenten). All united by the same desire to promote Switzerland on screen.
The 2025 General Assembly marks a consolidation in the structure of the Switzerland Film Commission. With a clear vision, tools under development, and a strengthened team, the SFC is asserting its role as a leader in building a dynamic and competitive film ecosystem, fully integrated into the regional, national, and international realities.
