Artistic residencies for audiovisual writing awarded at Casa Pantrovà in Carona

Benjamin Donateo, the young director working in Ticino, with "La mattanza", Valentina Shasivari, the filmmaker who grew up on the shores of Lake Maggiore with "La perla" and the Swiss-German artist Sandra Moser with "Rosanna, Jaris und die Anderswelt" are the winners of the third annual competition for artistic residencies dedicated toscreenwriting at the Casa Pantrovà in Carona..

 Among the 14 projects entered in this year's competition, on the unanimous verdict of the jury, those of Benjamin Donateo and Valentina Shasivari won the two residencies for screenwriting in Italian, and Sandra Moser was awarded the youth film residency in honour of children's writers Kurt Kläber and Lisa Tetzner.

 In addition to being able to devote four weeks - from 31 July to 27 August - to writing, the winners will be able to take advantage of the concomitance of the Locarno Film Festival. In fact, this year two of the residents will join the ten candidates selected for the first phase of the Locarno Residency; Benjamin Donateo and Valentina Shasivari will be able to present their proposals to a jury of three film industry personalities, who will choose three projects - two international and one Swiss - for a mentoring course in several sessions organised online and in-person over the course of a year.

 The 'La perla' project will also be able to participate in the Pitching Day organised by the Ticino Film Commission within the professional framework of Locarno Pro, while Sandra Moser will be invited to present her project at the next edition of Castellinaria Festival del cinema giovane and to meet professionals from the specific field of children's cinema.

 The Casa Pantrovà residencies are a project promoted and supported by the City of Lugano, the Casa della Letteratura per la Svizzera italiana and the Ticino Film Commission, in partnership with Castellinaria Festival del cinema giovane, the Gruppo registi e sceneggiatori della Svizzera italiana, the Locarno Film Festival and the collaboration of the Ufficio del sostegno alla cultura del DECS.
