The Switzerland Film Commission made its official debut at the prestigious Cannes Festival and its Marché du Film.
Representing the different regions of Switzerland and the Film Commissions of Lucerne, Zurich, Ticino, and Valais, the Switzerland Film Commission highlighted the diversity of the landscape, the efficiency of the infrastructure, and the cultural richness of Switzerland as a country that hosts international film shootings.
After participating in the Festivals of Beijing and Lisbon, this presence in Cannes confirmed the will of the SFC to increase its visibility among professionals in the film industry. During the festival, the co-presidents of the SFC, Lisa Barzaghi and Tristan Albrecht, met with producers and other international professionals, developing their network of partners and presenting the logistical, artistic, and natural advantages that Switzerland can offer to film and audiovisual productions.
«Our presence in Cannes represents a natural and necessary step in our opening strategy. We are proud to represent a creative, welcoming Switzerland, ready to collaborate with the greatest names in the sector. It is time for Switzerland to establish itself as a main player» stated Lisa Barzaghi.
The highlight of the event was an exclusive Swiss evening on the beach, where guests could taste the traditional raclette, the wines from Valais, and the panettone from Ticino. It was a warm and friendly occasion to build lasting ties with film professionals from all over the world, with their feet well planted in the sand.
«In Cannes, from informal meetings, often great ideas are born. Offering a moment of sharing is also a way to show who we are: warm, authentic, and open to collaboration» underlined Tristan Albrecht.
With its presence in Cannes, the Switzerland Film Commission wanted to affirm its ambition to place Switzerland on the world map of film shootings and to build lasting collaborations with the talents and producers of tomorrow. This commitment is fully in line with the international promotion strategy of the SFC, which aims to establish Switzerland as a key player in film production.
