Filming in Ticino of the feature-length fiction film “Il Cileno” has ended in Locarno. An international co-production between Italy, Switzerland and Chile, the film is directed by Sergio Castro San Martín and produced by Italian dispàrte, Chilean Equequo and Ticino-based Cinédokké.
The story, set largely in Turin in the 1970s during a hot Italian autumn, starts in Chile and winds its way to Ticino. It stars Italian actress Sara Serraiocco (“Non odiare”, “Siccità”, “Vermiglio”) and Chilean actor Camilo Arancibia (“Sayen,” “Los Colonos”).
Filming in our region, supported also by the Ticino Film Commission, took place during five days from Monday, December 9 to Friday, December 13, first at the Eranos Foundation in Ascona and then at the Spazio Elle in Locarno. A dozen or so Ticino industry professionals, including filmmakers, electricians and production staff, worked on these sets.
After shooting in Piedmont and our canton, the production will move to Chile in early January to complete filming.
