The training of young people and their professional integration are also vital in the audiovisual industry. The Ticino Film Commission (TFC) has been committed in this area for several years now. Firstly, it supports the internship project organised by Focal - the Foundation for professional training in cinema and audiovisual media - to offer future professionals in Ticino the possibility of paid experience in the field of film set practice. Furthermore, the TFC provides incentives for short diploma films from national film schools, such as the CISA in Locarno, from which young people from our region can benefit. The relationship with Swiss film schools was also emphasised during the recent visit to PalaCinema di Locarno by students from ECAL in Lausanne.
In a generous and practical gesture in favour of the area's young audiovisual talent, the Rotary Club Locarno, through the Fondazione Rotary Giovani, has decided to support the Ticino Film Commission's initiatives in this area with a contribution of CHF 15,000 per year for the duration of three years, earmarked for projects related to continuous training and professional integration.
‘Rotary Club Locarno and the Fondazione Rotary Giovani have always believed in the value of culture and in the strength of young local talent,’ emphasises Manuel Rigozzi, President of Rotary Club Locarno. ‘With this contribution to the Ticino Film Commission, we want to offer future audiovisual professionals the opportunity to learn and gain experience in the field, favouring their inclusion in a sector that is essential for our regional cultural identity. Supporting the continuous training of young people means investing in the future of our community and strengthening the link between culture and our region.’
‘Cinema,’ adds Niccolò Castelli, director of the Ticino Film Commission, ‘is a profession where what one learns in the field is fundamental in every technical and artistic area, from sound to image, from make-up to set design. It is therefore even more important for anyone entering this profession to be able to gain first-hand experience. The support of the Fondazione Rotary Locarno is an invaluable contribution to consolidate what has been done so far and to continue in this direction.’
