As part of the 75th Locarno Film Festival, the Ticino Film Commission, in collaboration with Locarno Pro and with the support of Ticino Turismo and the Organizzazione Turistica del Mendrisiotto e Basso Ceresio, organised an event for film professionals attending the Festival with the aim of promoting the search for co-productions, distribution and financing of films in development that could have a regional impact.
The day was an opportunity for a food and wine tour and a visit to the fascinating Torre dei Forni in the Parco della Breggia in the Mendrisiotto, one of the many film locations to be discovered in our region. The participants were thus able to share moments of exchange and discussion and above all to discover the southern territory of our Canton. A definite cinematic inspiration to take home from Ticino.
A selection of production companies from Ticino, beyond the Alps, Italy and Austria, writers and producers had the opportunity to present their films to a professional audience and then receive feedback and, hopefully, start new collaborations. The six projects presented at this year's Locarno Pitching Day are:
Black Turban: Gael Métroz (director), EPYC FILMS - Switzerland
Candy Crush: Giada Bossi (director), Gaia Brunelli (producer), Indiana Production - Italy
Controtempo: Simone Visparelli (director), Sara Bühring (producer), Central Productions - Switzerland / Ticino
Window on an imaginary city: Tommaso Donati (director), Thania Micheli (producer), Ventura Film - Switzerland / Ticino
Moving Forward: Ben Donateo (director), Nicola Bernasconi (producer), Rough Cat - Switzerland / Ticino
The Beginning of Gravity: Thomas Woschitz (director), Takethemoneyandrunproduction - Austria
We would like to thank the collaborators of LocarnoPro, Ticino Turismo and the Organizzazione Turistica del Mendrisiotto e Basso Ceresio for their support of the project. Finally, we would like to thank the production companies and professionals who agreed to collaborate, offering an important opportunity to meet and discuss.
