Last shoot in Ticino for international production ANXIETY

The film, a co-production between Poland, Germany and Switzerland, is an intimate drama constructed in the form of a road movie, showing the journey of two sisters from Warsaw to Switzerland.

Anxiety, supported by the Ticino Film Commission, has a strong link to our country in terms of theme and setting. Shooting lasted a total of six weeks between Poland, Germany and Switzerland. At the beginning of July, five shooting days took place in Ticino, between Mendrisiotto (Balerna), Locarno (Cinema Rialto and Hotel Belvedere Locarno) and Lugano (Lugano centre and Villa Heleneum)..

Synopsis

ANXIETY is the story of two sisters: Małgorzata, a loner by choice and a successful lawyer, and her younger sister Łucja, a contented mother of two daughters and assistant at Małgorzata's law firm. The two set off on a trip, the first in many years. They soon discover that one of the sisters is seriously ill. During the journey, the two sisters meet again, have adventures, meet other characters and change their outlook on the world, on life and on death, and Łucja manages to agree to let her sister leave with dignity.

The film is directed by Polish director and screenwriter Sławomir Fabicki, who was nominated at the 2001 Oscars in the "Best Short Film" category for A MAN THING, himself suffering from the death of someone close to him.

A number of Ticino technicians were involved in key roles on the set, in close collaboration with the Polish crew. Also worth mentioning is the collaboration with Lugano-based Central Productions, which supported the production during preparation and filming in Ticino.

The feature film is produced by Apple Film Production (Poland) and co-produced by Ma.ja.de fiction (Germany) and Cinédokké (Switzerland). It will be distributed in Poland by Monolith Films, in Germany by Neue Visionen Filmverleih and in Switzerland by Cineworx.
