Carnival.
A parenthesis, in the middle of winter where people have a chance to break their chains and rebel against the established order, returning to primordial chaos. There are no hierarchies or rules: everyone can be free, wild, finally themselves. And even in serious, unimpeachable Switzerland, the Feast takes on an overwhelming and irreverent force that suspends daily life to drag the community into a world of light and color that fascinates and stuns, that enchants and surprises.
Until Carnival comes to an end and the masks little by little begin to crumble. In the aftermath of Fat Thursday, the corpse of a girl is found in a field. Bellinzona instantly sinks into a nightmare it that seemed to have been buried forever. Eleven years earlier, in fact, during the days of “King Rabadan”, similar criminal incidents had turned the lives of the community's inhabitants upside down, undermining to the core the trust they placed in one another.
Who decided to unleash their “alter ego”?
This person has a definite plan, and is a dangerous and ruthless individual. Leonardo Blum, the Chief of police in charge of the investigation, a reserved and tormented man who sees in today's crimes a connection to the past ones, is convinced of this. That's why he needs a team of professionals to help him hunt down the serial killer among the streets crowded with unsuspecting, celebrating people. Among confetti and streamers, the killer can, in fact, move freely. The disguise the murderer wears makes him go unnoticed. A mask among masks. On the other hand, who doesn't wear one? Certainly not Leonardo Blum, who struggles daily with the ghosts of his past and the remorse that devours him from within: or the other members of the Squad, each with his own problems.
