Screenwriting residence at Casa Pantrovà in Carona

The City of Lugano in collaboration with La Casa della Letteratura per la Svizzera italiana, the Gruppo Registi e sceneggiatori della Svizzera italiana, a branch of the Swiss Association of Film Directors and Screenwriters ARF/FDS, and in partnership with the Ticino Film Commission opens a competition for two residencies dedicated to screenwriting at Casa Pantrovà in Carona (Lugano) during the month of August. The winners will benefit from a two-week residency, from 16 to 29 August 2021, dedicated to the development of a subject, plot treatment or screenplay version. In addition to accommodation, a  2'000 CHF grant will be awarded to cover all residence and travel expenses.

The Culture Division, together with the Casa della Letteratura per la Svizzera italiana and the Gruppo Registi e Sceneggiatori della Svizzera italiana, has identified Casa Pantrovà - the house built by Lisa Tetzner and Kurt Kläber, a pair of well-known children's writers - as an ideal place for study and creative stays. Furthermore, the villa has a long tradition of welcoming personalities from the world of the arts and still periodically hosts musicians and artists from various fields.

In order to share the experience of this project with cultural personnel and the public, two meetings with guests will be organized during the stay, one open to the public and one reserved for audiovisual professionals.

General conditions for participation:

The residence is open to Swiss or foreign professional filmmakers who have been resident in Switzerland for at least three years, over 18 years of age, with Italian-language projects involving feature and short fiction films, creative documentaries, animated films, multimedia and transmedia projects.

Applications must be completed and submitted no later than 17 May, 2021, via email only to cultura@lugano.ch. A special committee will evaluate the projects, the results of the selection will be announced during June 2021.
