Ticino, Valais and the Aosta Valley sign a memorandum of understanding in Venice

Meeting in Venice on the occasion of the Venice International Film Festival, the Ticino Film Commission, the Valais Film Commission and the Film Commission Vallée d'Aoste have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening the ties between their respective audiovisual ecosystems, marking a new step in cooperation between Switzerland and Italy.
 

The signing took place in the presence of Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider and Céline Dessimoz, President of the Grand Council of Valais, reflecting the importance attached to this initiative. The agreement paves the way for lasting relationships between professionals, film commissions and territories in the Aosta Valley, Valais and Ticino: three regions with distinct identities that share an Alpine heritage built on historical, cultural and linguistic ties, as well as on common landscapes and challenges.
 

The aim of the memorandum is to pool skills, networks and experience more closely across the three territories, creating concrete opportunities for the audiovisual sector through professional gatherings, festivals, markets, pitching sessions, training programmes and joint events. At the heart of the initiative is also a shared vision of the mountains, understood not merely as a backdrop for filming but as a genuine territory of creation and storytelling.
 

For the Ticino Film Commission, the collaboration represents an opportunity to strengthen the visibility and connections of the Alpine region within the European audiovisual landscape. "Administrative borders should not be borders for stories," said Lisa Barzaghi, Head of the Ticino Film Commission. "By working together with the Aosta Valley and Valais, we can develop new synergies and offer producers and creatives greater opportunities for collaboration."
