The story of a courageous woman who, not without inner tears, manages to find her own way. Between real events and personal drama, the film raises the question - unfortunately still unresolved - of female emancipation: to what extent can a woman decide her own life without coming into conflict with society and its codes?
1906: young mother Hanna wants nothing more than to break free from her bourgeois role and its social constraints. She flees to the Monte Verità sanatorium, where, surrounded by idyllic Ticino nature and courageously devoting herself to her art, she is soon faced with a wrenching decision. Can she return to her family without giving up on herself?
For me, as a director, shooting "Monte Verità" was an experience of mental expansion, starting from the spirit of nature that defines Ticino: from the Mediterranean atmosphere to the alpine mountain world, everything that fills the senses and lights up the imagination lies here.
