Boschetto is a hamlet in the municipality of Cevio and is a settlement of incredible cultural value. A heritage made up of a thousand facets; behind every stone slab, every wooden post, every chestnut tree the history of our valleys is crystallized with a strong rural connotation.
The village appears as a very compact nucleus, in which residential and commercial buildings are not concentrated in separate districts but follow one another with spontaneous randomness. The oldest buildings include, in addition to press from 1580, two parallel rows of houses arranged in a fan shape on the sides and below the oratory dedicated to St. Antonio abate and the surrounding churchyard. The upper part of the centre, on the other hand, is almost exclusively 18th century buildings.
Over the past centuries the resident population has shaped the village with clever use of the area.
The emigration of the nineteenth century and the decades of abandonment following the departure from traditional forms of agriculture and pastoral farming did not change the appearance and substance of the rich historical and cultural heritage of Boschetto, on the other hand they marked its deterioration. The Boschetto Landscape Project, promoted by APAV in collaboration with the Municipality of Cevio, intends to slowdown the deterioration and enhance this valuable environment.
