Sasso Residency

In the heart of Vairano, on the slopes of the beautiful lake Maggiore, Casa Sasso is a peaceful oasis of creation.

At the beginning of the 1980s, the house in the nucleus Vairano 12 found a new owner with a lot of passion for renovating the sixteenth-century "Casa Padronale" object. With the professional support of the monument protection over a period of several years, the original character and style of the house could be elaborately preserved.

In 2013 the owner family decided to open it to the public and young artists in residence.

Since 2018, Casa Sasso has been managed by the SASSO RESIDENCE association, a group of six-person volunteers with an artistic, cultural, cinematographic, design and theatrical background.

With five bedrooms, a lounge/workshop, kitchen and dining room, attic, a small workshop, a garden shed, a cellar and the large, natural garden in a peaceful location, the property offers ideal conditions for a concentrated and productive work. The spacious layout and the well-developed infrastructure with a view across the lake to the Ticino mountains confer a beautiful setting for visitors and residences of all disciplines and origins.

During the summer months, Casa Sasso is mainly booked by the artist residency. Furthermore, the association intends to open Casa Sasso as a meeting place.

The house offers space for up to ten people to stay and work overnight, and is also suitable for workshops, retreats, filming or short holidays as well as for gatherings and parties of up to 60 people per day.
