Filming has begun on Villi Hermann's new movie

Nearly forty years after Bankomatt, Villi Hermann returns to narrative filmmaking. Filming for Bastardo, the new film by the Ticino-based director, recently began in Caslano and Sessa. On March 27, he will receive the 2026 Swiss Cinema Honorary Award.

Filming will take place over the course of a few weeks in the Tresa Valley, on the border with Italy, and in the Monte Lema area. Written by Fabio Andina, a native of Madonna del Piano, Bastardo is inspired by his collection of short stories, Sei tu, Ticino?, published in 2020 by Rubbettino.

A crew of over thirty people is working on the film, consisting largely of professionals from Ticino. The lead cast also features actors from our region, starting with two young talents, Lisa Pires Lima (who previously appeared in Stars, directed by Anna Spacio) and Pietro De Nova (from Call My Agent! Italia, Season 2), directed by Massimiliano Zampetti, alongside Swiss actor Leonardo Nigro, Italian actors Diego Ribon, Lucia Mascino, and Auroro Borealo, and Ukrainian actor Hlib Tovstoluh.
