Gloria!, the directorial debut of Italian singer-songwriter and actress Margherita Vicario, will have its world premiere in competition at the 74th Berlinale, scheduled from 15 to 25 February 2024.

A co-production between Italy and Switzerland, the film was produced by Tempesta Film with Rai Cinema and Tellfilm and is supported by the Ticino Film Commission. Shot mainly in Italy, Gloria! also featured locations in Ticino. Last June, five days of shooting took place in Malvaglia, in the historical setting of the Landfogti Palace. The cast, which includes Galatea Bellugi, Carlotta Gamba, Veronica Lucchesi (singer of the duo La rappresentante di Lista), Paolo Rossi and Stefano Belisari better known as Elio from the group Elio e le Storie Tese, also includes Ticino actress Jasmin Mattei.

Set in a girls' boarding school in Venice in the early 19th century, Gloria! tells the story of Teresa, a young woman with a visionary gift, who, together with a small group of extraordinary musicians, leap across the centuries and challenge the dusty vaults of the Ancien Régime by inventing a rebellious, light and modern music.
