Ticino's Grand Council renews the mandate of the Ticino Film Commission

The day before yesterday, the Grand Council of the Canton of Ticino - at the recommendation of the State Council - approved the legal framework for the continuing funding of the Ticino Film Commission, as well as the activity credit for 2023 (CHF 350,000) with 65 votes in favour, 2 abstentions and no dissenting votes. After its first eight years of operation, marked by a growth in activities and results (see the 2018-2021 report, also available online in a shortened version at the links below), the TFC is thus further consolidated and formally recognised as a benchmark in the audiovisual industry and the canton's economic development strategy. As you are aware, the Ticino Film Commission is in fact a non-profit foundation whose aim is to bring benefits in terms of visibility in the tourism sector, direct economic benefits and employment to Ticino. The results, far exceeding the performance mandate set out by the canton, the constant growth and the expanded network of partners with whom the film commission collaborates, have thus largely convinced the cantonal authorities of the validity of the Ticino Film Commission's work, which will therefore be able to continue in its commitment in favour of the region and its cultural and economic interests. As the Ticino Film Commission, we would like to thank the Office for Economic Development, the Department of Finance and Economy, the State Council and the Grand Council for their renewed confidence. During the first months of 2023 we will be able to inform you of some new collaborations that will lead to a development of the organisation of the Ticino Film Commission.
